Statement of Faith for the "Lyric and Letter" Podcast

  • About God:
We believe in one God, the Creator and Ruler of the universe, who eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, each fully God, and together they are one God (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). As worship is central to our faith, we acknowledge that our worship is directed toward this triune God, who alone is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise (Revelation 4:11).

  • About Humanity:
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and designed to reflect His character. However, through sin, humanity fell into rebellion against God, resulting in separation from Him (Romans 3:23). This separation calls for redemption, which God provides through Jesus Christ. We affirm that worship, particularly through music, allows us to express both our need for God and our desire to return to Him in faith and repentance, aligning our hearts with His truth (Psalm 51:10-12).

  • About Eternity:
We believe that human beings are created with eternity in mind (Ecclesiastes 3:11). We will exist forever, either eternally separated from God by sin (Romans 6:23) or eternally united with Him through salvation in Jesus Christ (John 3:16). Heaven and hell are real, eternal destinations, and worship is not only a present expression of our faith but a foretaste of our eternal union with God, where we will worship Him forever in spirit and in truth (Revelation 7:9-10).

  • About Jesus Christ:
We believe that Jesus Christ, co-equal with the Father, is the eternal Son of God (John 1:1,14). He was born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:34-35), lived a sinless life, and died on the cross for our sins, offering Himself as the perfect sacrifice (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He rose from the dead, demonstrating His power over sin and death, and ascended to heaven (Acts 1:9), where He reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16). As we sing worship songs that reflect on Christ’s death and resurrection, we are reminded of His finished work on the cross and His promise to return, making our worship a declaration of faith in the risen Savior.

  • About Salvation:
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace (Ephesians 2:8-9). It cannot be earned by human effort or good works but is received through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again to give us eternal life (Titus 3:5-7). God promises to complete the work of salvation in all who believe (Philippians 1:6). Our worship, in response to this amazing grace, is an expression of our gratitude for the salvation we have received and an act of faith that acknowledges our dependence on Him (Colossians 3:16-17).

  • About God’s Dependability:
We believe that eternal life, once received through faith in Jesus Christ, is kept secure by God's grace and power (John 10:28-29). Nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). This assurance gives us confidence in worship, knowing that we can approach God boldly, praising Him for His faithfulness, and trusting in His promises (Hebrews 10:22-23).

  • About the Holy Spirit:
We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He works in the hearts of people to convict them of their need for Christ (John 16:8-11), and He indwells believers from the moment of salvation, guiding, empowering, and teaching them how to live righteously (1 Corinthians 3:16; Galatians 5:25). The Holy Spirit enables us to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24), leading us into deeper intimacy with Him through our songs, prayers, and daily walk with the Lord.

  • About the Bible:
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is composed of the Old and New Testaments and is fully authoritative in matters of faith and practice (2 Peter 1:20-21). The Bible provides the foundation for all we believe and practice. Our mission at Lyric and Letter is to reveal the biblical truths behind the worship songs we sing, showing how worship lyrics reflect Scripture and lead us into a deeper understanding of God's Word. As we dive into worship music, we continually point back to the Bible as the source of truth and the guide for our lives (Psalm 119:105).

  • About Faith and Practice:
We believe that Scripture is the final authority for Christian faith and life (Psalm 119:105). We also recognize individual responsibility and liberty in areas where the Bible is silent, always under the lordship of Christ (Romans 14:5-8). At Lyric and Letter, we encourage believers to apply biblical truths to every aspect of life, including their worship, relationships, and personal growth. Our study tools, devotionals, and thematic verse mapping sessions are designed to help believers live out their faith in practical, meaningful ways.

    Worship and Scripture

At Lyric and Letter, we believe that worship and Scripture are intricately connected. Worship music is a powerful expression of our love for God, and many worship songs draw directly from biblical passages. By exploring the relationship between worship lyrics and Scripture, we help believers see the theological depth and biblical truths in the songs they sing. Our goal is to foster a deeper connection with God's Word, enhancing both personal worship and communal faith experiences through the tools we provide—podcast episodes, devotionals, thematic verse mapping, and Bible study sessions.
