Statement of Faith for the "Lyric and Letter" Podcast

  • About God:
We believe in one God, the Creator and Ruler of the universe, who eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are distinct in person yet one in essence, co-equal and fully God, eternally existing in perfect unity (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14). Worship is central to our faith, and we direct our worship to the triune God alone, who is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise (Revelation 4:11).

  • About Humanity:
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and designed to reflect His character. However, through Adam’s disobedience, sin entered the world, bringing spiritual death and separation from God (Romans 5:12; Romans 3:23). Because of this, every person is born into sin and in need of redemption, which is found only through Jesus Christ. Worship, particularly through music, expresses both our dependence on God and our response to His grace, aligning our hearts with His truth (Psalm 51:10-12).

  • About Eternity:
We believe that human beings are eternal creatures (Ecclesiastes 3:11) and will exist forever—either eternally separated from God in judgment (Matthew 25:46) or eternally united with Him in His presence (John 3:16). Heaven and hell are real, eternal destinations. Worship is not only a present expression of our faith but a foretaste of eternity, where believers will glorify God forever (Revelation 7:9-10).

  • About Jesus Christ:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, co-equal with the Father (John 1:1,14). He was born of the virgin Mary (Luke 1:34-35), lived a sinless life, and died as the perfect atoning sacrifice for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He bodily rose from the dead, demonstrating His victory over sin and death, and ascended to heaven (Acts 1:9). He reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16) and will return to establish His kingdom fully. Worship through song and study reflects our faith in His finished work and our anticipation of His return.

  • About Salvation:
We believe that eternal life is secured by God’s grace and power through faith in Jesus Christ (John 10:28-29). Salvation is found in Christ alone, and those who place their faith in Him are given the assurance of eternal life (Ephesians 1:13-14). Nothing can separate a believer from the love of God in Christ (Romans 8:38-39), for He is faithful to complete the work He began (Philippians 1:6).

This assurance gives us confidence in worship, knowing we can approach God boldly through Christ, praising Him for His faithfulness, and trusting in His promises (Hebrews 10:22-23).

  • About the Assurance of Salvation:
We believe that eternal life is secured by God’s grace and power, not by human effort (John 10:28-29). Nothing can separate a believer from the love of God in Christ (Romans 8:38-39). This assurance gives us confidence in worship, allowing us to approach God boldly, praising Him for His faithfulness and trusting in His promises (Hebrews 10:22-23).

  • About the Holy Spirit:
We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son and is actively at work in the world today. He convicts the world of sin (John 16:8-11), indwells believers at the moment of salvation, and empowers them to live godly lives (1 Corinthians 3:16; Galatians 5:25). The Holy Spirit enables true worship by leading believers to worship in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24), guiding them into deeper intimacy with God through prayer, the Word, and obedience.

  • About the Bible:
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is fully sufficient for faith, practice, and spiritual growth (2 Peter 1:20-21). At Lyric and Letter, we are committed to revealing the biblical truths behind the worship songs we sing, ensuring that our worship is firmly rooted in Scripture. The Bible is the final authority for all aspects of life (Psalm 119:105).

  • About Faith and Practice:
We believe that Scripture is the ultimate authority for Christian faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:16). While the Bible provides clear guidance on essential doctrines, it also allows for Christian liberty in areas not explicitly addressed, provided that all things are done for the glory of God (Romans 14:5-8; 1 Corinthians 10:31). At Lyric and Letter, we encourage believers to apply biblical truth in every aspect of life, including worship, relationships, and personal growth.

    Worship and Scripture

At Lyric and Letter, we believe that worship and Scripture are inseparable. Worship is not just a song but a lifestyle of surrender to Christ (Romans 12:1). Worship music serves as an expression of that surrender, drawing from biblical truth to glorify God. Many worship songs are deeply rooted in Scripture, and our mission is to help believers understand and engage with the theological depth of the songs they sing.

Through podcast episodes, devotionals, thematic verse mapping, and Bible study sessions, we equip believers to engage with God’s Word in a way that deepens both their worship and their understanding of Scripture. Our goal is to foster biblically grounded worship that reflects the truth of God’s Word and the beauty of His gospel.
